I found a television interview aired on BBC in 2010
for the publication of The Judas Gate. It runs nearly six minutes
and it is really an interesting short piece. It touches on his early
years in Belfast, his love of writing (he describes it as a compulsion), and he
said, regarding books and his writing, “books are everything.”
He named The
Great Gatsby as one of the books that influenced him the most as writer: “The
sheer grace of the writing, absolutely.
The wit of it. The use of words.
The haunting descriptions.”
Great interview by one of my favorite writers! Thanks for posting this.
